KAEA'ers honored with MVAEA awards

Two KAEA members received special recognition at the Missouri Valley Adult Education Association (MVAEA) conference in Kansas City June 4.

Karen Ulanski (above left) was honored with the MVAEA Founders Award. The award is made annually to an individual who has served MVAEA with such distinction that his/her achievements are widely acknowledged by adult education colleagues throughout the seven-state region.

Pam Cannon (above right) received the Kansas MVAEA Achievement Award. The seven states of MVAEA have an opportunity during the annual regional conference to recognize a person who has made outstanding contributions in strengthening adult education programming in their state. This is one MVAEA award that recognizes individuals who have been professionally active in the field of adult and continuing education. Pam was acknowledged for elevating KAEA academic standards through her involvement in designing and teaching the Butler PASS (Pathways to Achieving Student Success) class while helping students transition to postsecondary education/training.

Steve Allison, MVAEA President, presented both awards at the annual MVAEA Awards Banquet.
