Adult educators gather in Garden City to learn about "Taking the Next Step"

New officers elected to KAEA leadership

As of July 1, several new officers will be joining the KAEA leadership team. Devin Graves of Cowley County Community College will be stepping in as vice president, while Ryan Ausmus of Dodge City Community College will take on the District 1 representative post. Sue Choens of Butler County Community College, treasurer, Susan McCabe of Johnson County Community College, District 1 rep, and Karen Culver of Allen County Community College, District 5 rep, were reelected. Newly elected Standards Council representatives are Joe Thornton of Barton County Community College, Area 1; Mandy Cox of Let's Help Inc. in Topeka, Are 3; and Gwen Morgan, Labette Community College, Area 5.

The Outstanding Volunteer was Mihoki from Manhattan Adult Education Center. Shannon Branson (at right) submitted the nomination and accepted the award on Mihoko’s behalf. Candie White presented the award.

The Outstanding Student Award went to Kevin Loving. Kevin was nominated by Karen Culver of Allen County Community College. See the story from the Iola Register here.

Candie White presented the Tyro Adult Educator Award to Jennifer Sorenson. Jennifer was nominated by Nance Munderloh.

Marci Penner hosts the Kansas Game Show, a fun way to learn about the art, cuisine, customs, geography, history, and people of Kansas.
